Insight Meditation: Finding your own Way
In this retreat you’ll have the opportunity to experiment with different approaches to meditation and find what works best for you. Instead of a set practice, there’ll be a variety of practices offered and discussion of different styles or directions one can take. You’ll have the freedom to use an approach you’re familiar with, or try something new. The retreat is an opportunity to develop trust and confidence in your own unfolding practice.
Practices will include self-compassion, bringing a sense of warmth and care to mindfulness practice, working with the somatic/emotional body, ways of settling the discursive mind, working with desire in meditation, and just sitting with no goal in mind.
This retreat will follow the common Insight Meditation format of silence, sitting periods, breaks, dharma talks and individual interviews. It’s suitable for both new and experienced meditators. More experienced meditators who already have an established practice will have the option of doing a largely solitary retreat with little teacher contact while having the support of a retreat environment.
