Spring Recollective Awareness Retreat at Gorricks Run
with Winton Higgins and Sylvie Vanasse
The SIM Spring Retreat is now in its twelfth year. It provides a safe and conducive bush environment in which to immerse ourselves for a few days in reflective insight meditation using the Recollective Awareness approach. This flexible method is gentle, yet can yield profound insights as we become increasingly aware of our thinking patterns, which we can track through journaling if we so choose. We can also learn to tolerate difficult emotional states that typically accompany our thoughts and arise during meditation sittings. This process often opens the door to a sense of wellbeing and deep tranquillity.
This is a silent retreat dotted with daily talks as well as optional group and individual interviews. The only requirements are to practice noble silence outside the scheduled group and interview sessions, as well as the five Buddhist precepts, which are to refrain from harming living beings, taking what is not given, sexual misconduct, misleading communication, and anything that dulls or agitates the mind.
The retreat will be held from Thursday evening 15 to Sunday lunchtime 18 September. It begins on Thursday @ 7pm after the evening meal.
The teachers this year are Winton Higgins and Sylvie Vanasse. Winton has been teaching this retreat for twelve years; Sylvie is an up and coming teacher from the Beaches Sangha in Sydney.

About Gorricks Run...
Kodoji, Ancient Ground Zendo at Gorricks Run, is the Sydney Zen Centre retreat facility. It nestles in a deep valley beneath the high sandstone cliffs of Yengo National Park.
It is approximately two hours north-north west of Sydney near Upper Macdonald, NSW.
The simple facilities include a cottage equipped with a kitchen, camping, bush showers and a large and magnificent dojo (meditation hall).
ACCOMMODATION. Most participants camp or sleep on the wide verandah of the meditation hall, but some beds are available in a unisex dormitory. Priority is given to those who ask first and/or to those with special needs. If you intend to drive a small campervan to sleep in, please be aware you will be driving on a dirt road to get to Gorrick's.
In keeping with the 2500 year old tradition the teachers are not paid for teaching the dharma. Dana is the practice of generosity through which we offer donations to our teachers as a sign of our respect for the teaching and its value in our lives.
