Writing as contemplative practice
Deepen your meditation practice at this weekend event in Sydney....
SIM is delighted to create an opportunity for experienced meditators to explore their creativity through meditation practice with teacher and author Joyce Kornblatt.
(This workshop is rescheduled from November 2014).
About the workshop
In this experiential workshop, we’ll explore writing from what Zen Buddhists call ‘beginner’s mind.’ If we let go of our beliefs about how to write, what to write and whether or not we’re any good at writing, what might we discover about our creativity? Using gentle meditation practices, we’ll allow breath, silence and movement to guide us through a series of writing experiments. We’ll write directly from the body’s wisdom and the heart's compassion.
As the poet Philip Booth says so beautifully, we'll come together "to find some word for / how we bear our lives."
In keeping with the 2,500 year old tradition the teachers provide their teachings as a gift (dana) and rely on your return of that gift in the form of financial support.
Dana is the practice of generosity. We offer donations to our teachers as a sign of respect and gratitude for the teaching. Retreatants will have the opportunity to practise dana during all SIM events.
