Embodied Awakening
2026

The rhythm of my heart is the birth and
death of all that are alive
Thich Nhat Hanh
Awakening isn’t happening anywhere else but here and now in this breathing, sensing, feeling, thinking body. And awakening isn’t an attainment, although we strive for it. There is actually nothing to gain, nothing to lose, but there is a shift in perception. And when this happens, we find ourselves living in a profound and grateful intimacy with this miracle of existence. The gifts of this shift in perception are many.

As the Buddha said, ‘mindfulness in the body leads to all skilful qualities on the side of realization.’ We’ll explore these in this retreat through including somatic practices that support the unwinding of deeply held patterns of tension and reactivity. We can then experience what it is like to rest into the fundamental ground of wellbeing – peaceful, clear, open. This is so very pleasurable and it is then so much easier to let go of limiting ideas of the self and to recognize the freedom and love the Buddha encourages in us.

The program will consist of lying down, sitting and walking meditation, regular guided meditation and somatic practice, dharma talks, and occasional relational meditation. Somatic practice sessions will include releasing with the breath, unwinding though movement, subtle body exploration, yoga, and TRE (Trauma Release Exercise).    TRE is excellent for tension release and nervous system regulation.
