High Country Walking Retreat - February, March 2025
This was our third High County Retreat and once again we were blessed by good weather. It was a lovely group, thirty one of us all up and it felt like a lodge full of happy campers. This was our first time in late summer mn and there was no snow at all and comfortable warm weather above the tree line. Easy to sit in the grass near the top of one of the mountains and take in the fast moving clouds, the strange rock formations and the expansive views.
We did have one accident. Our dear cook, Teacosy, fell onto rocks and had cuts in various places and needed stitches. But that was arranged and despite many offers to handle food arrangements, Teacosy was back in the kitchen and producing his wonderful meals as usual.
Same schedule as last year: two days walking, two days silent retreat and then a further two days walking. The team this time was also the same as previously: Suzie Brown and myself as teachers / leaders, Guy Warren managing and Teacosy cooking.
The ski lodge will be having renovations and there's limits on when we can book for another retreat there. Our plan is to do another High Country Retreat in November 2026.
