The Inner Rhythm of Being
2026

'Within this fathom-long body and mind
is found all of the teachings'
The Buddha
The Inner Rhythm of Being Retreat is an invitation to slow down, soften, and reconnect with the natural intelligence of the body.
Over five days, we will explore a blend of meditation, gentle movement, and relational inquiry. The retreat offers a balance of stillness and expression, with time for rest, reflection, and quiet connection with others. No prior meditation or movement experience is required.
The body is a vehicle for awakening - for, as the Buddha taught, all the teachings are found within this very body. Yet it is not always easy to reconnect with this inner knowing. Stress, trauma, and the pace of modern life can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves.
This retreat creates a supportive space to slow down and listen more deeply. Through simple, guided practices, we begin to notice sensations, emotions, and patterns with greater clarity. From this place, insight and understanding can naturally emerge.
We will weave together teachings from the Buddhist tradition (Dharma) with body-based (somatic) practices and gentle relational inquiry. These approaches support a deeper connection between body and mind, helping cultivate presence, ease, and a sense of coming home to oneself.
The program will include:
  • Guided and silent meditation (sitting and walking)
  • Somatic practices to release tension and build body awareness (including TRE® and interoception)
  • Dhamma Dance — a gentle movement practice inspired by Authentic Movement
  • Opportunities for reflection and optional group inquiry
Dhamma Dance sessions offer a space to explore movement as a way of deepening awareness and connecting with qualities such as compassion, joy, and balance.

'The value of embodiment and somatic practices of Mindful Movement and TRE paired with meditation practices cannot be understated. Bringing attention deeply into the body using somatic methods facilitates inquiry at a depth I have never before experienced.'
                                                                   Dr Susana Sumskis
'Nourishing, that would be the word for my experience at this retreat. Alan and Renata’s mindfulness of movement sessions were the highlight. The movement practices complemented each other so well and were balanced with stillness practice'
                                                                       Simon McCosker
