Meeting What Is:
Writing as a Practice of Courage
Online Retreat 2020

The Dharma offers us many ‘skillful means’ for encountering life directly--meditation, inquiry, ethical principles, the power of a loving heart.   Contemplative writing cultivates them all.  In this retreat, we’ll explore such writing as a practice of courage. Without courage, we fall back into the trance of conditioning.   We fear contact and shrink from responsible action.  Courage gives us the strength to face life as it is:  raw, immediate, intimate, tender.  This five-day retreat includes silent meditation, guided writing experiments, and dialogue practice, all held in a safe and kind community we will create together.

About the Online Format
This will be an online retreat. If possible, it is best if you can clear all else from your schedule and attend the retreat fully as you would in a meditation centre. But in this difficult COVID-19 time, you may have to juggle responsibilities, so the retreat will offer flexibility for those who need to be away for some of the day.
