A new Insight Meditation group has formed on the Northern Beaches! Beginners and experienced meditators are very welcome to join us - to sit, explore, learn, listen, feel and share.
Under the umbrella of Sydney Insight Meditators (SIM), a not-for-profit association that supports similar groups across Sydney, we are a lay Buddhist sangha community, formed with the intention of providing a respectful space where we can practice Insight Meditation together. This practice includes meditation and, importantly, facilitates learning and experience of the dharma, the Buddha’s 2,500 year old teachings. We offer a two-hour, once-weekly meeting of non-judgemental, supportive, curious people who have come together from different backgrounds and experiences. We are connected by having compassion for people and our planet, and we often find that we have much more in common than we think. We don’t promise enlightenment, or blissful happiness-for-ever-after! It’s not about what we think, and we won’t be dishing out unwanted, unskilled advice (in fact, probably no advice). It is about you finding and recognising your own insights. If you are interested in experiencing the connection that can be found when practicing and sharing your journey with others, through Insight Meditation, please come and sit with us and explore the dharma. Of course, having existed for over 2,500 years, the Buddha’s teachings are widely open to interpretation, and the study of the dharma in the West is relatively new in context. We aim to continue the journey of open enquiry, with the dedicated work of SIM’s experienced teachers and facilitators, and many others, providing resources and guidance.
