The Bluegum Sangha is a Buddhist insight meditation community on Sydney’s North Shore. It supports its members’ development both as meditators and as practitioners of the dharma in all its aspects.
We meet at 7pm each Tuesday for meditation and dharma teachings.
NB Please note change of address:
From December 6th the Bluegum Sangha will leave the Well Aware Ness Centre in Ridge St North Sydney and move to:
The Neutral Bay Iyengar Yoga Centre
2 Young St (first floor), Neutral Bay
The centre is on the corner with Military Rd (enter from Young St), one block east of The Oaks Hotel. Parking is available on the north side of Military Rd from 7pm, plus on nearby streets and in various parking areas.
The doors will be open by 7pm for a 45 minute sit from 7:15pm.
This group is for people who have some background in meditation and who are comfortable sitting for 45 minutes in silence. New people are welcome!
The Bluegum Sangha is linked to Sydney Insight Meditators and Australian Insight Meditation Network.
NB The Christmas party is on Sunday December 11, at 11am at the usual place, Chinaman's Beach. Bring a plate, drinks and metta to share. We can't locate the SIM banner, so just look out for familiar faces and if you happen to be storing the SIM banner, please bring it along.
An up-to-date program of the activities may be found on the Bluegum website.
Notice of other events and retreats are also announced at the Tuesday meetings and via an email distribution list.
Each Tuesday Bluegum Sangha members meet and usually follow a routine:
7.00 pm: the sangha opens and people chat over a cup of tea before finding a seat (chair or cushion)
7.15 pm: the meditation begins
(45 minute silent unled meditation)
Break for refreshments
8.15 pm: we have a talk from one of the Bluegum teachers, members, or guest speakers
9.00 pm: we typically finish for the evening (at times a little later)
There is a $5 facility fee plus voluntary dana (generosity) which is a contribution towards the teaching.
