Traditionally, the New Year is a time to take stock of our lives, to let go of what no longer serves, and to reconnect more fully with our deeper aspirations. This eight-day retreat provides a precious opportunity to settle into silence and with the support of sangha/community, attune more fully to the heart and mind.
Through this process of deep listening to ourselves and others, we can then better understand how to live our lives with more kindness, compassion and clarity. During the eight days, we will explore a variety of foundational Buddhist practices, including the Four Establishments of Mindfulness, the four Brahmavihāra heart practices of kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity, and some relational practice meditating together in pairs or small groups. Each day will include a mix of guided and silent sitting meditation, walking meditation, optional mindful movement, small group discussion and individual meetings with the teacher. Teacher: Jill Shepherd is a graduate of the IMS / Spirit Rock Insight teacher training program in the US under the guidance of Joseph Goldstein and Gil Fronsdal. She teaches regularly in the USA, Australia and New Zealand. For more info about Jill, see: http://jill0shepherd-insightmeditation.com or go to our teachers page.
